Sinulog Festival

without comments

So happened to come across this sinulog dance while waiting for my mum at Sg Wang yesterday afternoon. Sinulog festival is held annually on the third sunday of January in Cebu to honour the Santo Nino, or the child Jesus, who is the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu. ‘Sinulog’ comes from the Cebuano adverb sulog which is “like water current movement,” which adeptly describes the forward-backward movement of the Sinulog dance.(info above regarding Sinulog quoted from wikipedia, for more head on to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinulog_festival)

The Sinulog dance was presented by University of SAn Carlos Dance Troupe.

I was on the 2nd floor when the dance started and din really get a good position for photo taking~ I watched until halfway and went elsewhere…

Drums and gongs are part of the Sinulog dance where the dancers in brightly-coloured costumes dance to its rhythm.

No idea on the name of all the dances. I was pretty fascinated when i saw these galz with such heavy potteries on their head. Rather than saying fascinated, i was more like attracted to it

Ended up taking a photo of the dancer who looked as if she;s tryin to cast some magic on the audience~ I think i;m the first to be hit!

The ladies lined up in a row as seen and seperated the potteries on floor before adding more potteries ;p Superb!

Preparing to seperate the potteries individually~

Some dancing movement infront of the potteries.

Preparing to stack the potteries again~

Viola, dancing with tonnes of potteries on their head totally unsupported! izn;t that amazing?

This was another dance with galz carrying flower basket behind their back.

After the dance with flower basket, came a dance by six galz in brightly colored skirt as well as 6 guyz in traditional filipino shirt.

Zoom in on one of the blue skirt lady.

An ending pose by the dancers~

I found them to be highly identical from far away but not when near!

I think this is the best photo of the day from me :) Her outfit reminded me of gothic lolita~ Oh my, lace does make a gal look sexy and attractive!

Infamous Titanic pose? Just nice if can hug from behind while looking at the endless ocean *dreaming*

This dance was abt 3 guyz going after 1 gal and trying their best to please her~

A close-up shot at the dancer. Bit blur as i din have any tripod with me~

Finally, the gal chosen the guy in violet colored shirt.

DAncing together happily ever after. Wat a nice ending~

After this dance, i din stay to watch further and instead dined with my mum at supernoodle house…

Kwai ling gou or tortoise shell jelly ordered by me. If not mistaken it;s good for the skin and it;s wat i needed. Better than nothing for my ever corrupted skin complexion~ My wisdom tooth is growing and more pimples!

Salted drumstick as recommended by one of the waitress. IT came with dry noodle in a seperate plate. Not bad and not very salty. Infact i find the mild ginger taste nice thou i;m not a fan of ginger.

After all these, had a light window-shopping session and found 2 nice shirts from seed and u2. Oh my gona be darn broke after buying either one of them :(

Restaurant or Hawker Center?

without comments

Tired~ Returned home at around 10++pm last monday after watching Initial-D with my batchmates at Sunway. Din realize that my class was until 3.30pm coz i mistaken this week time-table for last week one :X ANyway, we went to get our ticket around 5pm and lepaked around in Pyramid. The movie was stated to start at 6.15pm but somehow there;s this delay and we were only allowed to get in by 6.30++pm~ Darn TGV! If only GSC has initial D, i dun think i;ll step foot into TGV :P Bias maybe? Haha~

The movie was pretty ok with nice racing scene and funny cantonese conversation. Other than that, i find it sucky that they changed the storyline and i still can;t accept it for some reason :P But as my fren said, just take it as it is and dun compare with the anime :S Oh my, after watching the movie, i missed driving and wonder when i;ll get back to bsb for some drive around :P Desperate~

Anyway, the movie ended around 8++pm and we went to Restoran Ming Tien or more like Ming tien hawker center for dinner.

</div

It;s my first time dining here and also i find it interesting that the table top is made of metal! At first i thought all the stall are just outside as seen in this photo but i;m wrong. There;s more stallz inside the shoplot…

Grill fish can also be found here…

Satay at rm0.50 per stick~

I ordered my beef noodle from the second hawker stall which is right behind this beijing falvour szechuna mee stall. IF only i could take spicy foods, i;ll order one of these~

Hong kong dimsum and cheong fun stalls…

Nasi lemak, fried oyster/loh pak ko (carrot cake) stalls…

My large beef noodle at rm 4.50. The strength of beef taste in the soup was average and not as strong as that offered by Lai Fong beef noodle in Petalingstreet area. Overall, it;s quite nice (esp with the radish offered).

Wedding Dinner @ Golden Dragon Boat

without comments

Attended my cousin’s wedding last saturday at this restaurant known as Golden Dragon Boat which is just a stone’s throw from Sg Wang.

My aunt asked me why i din bring along my gf like what my sis did in bringing her partner along. SO i just told her no galz will ever wan me :p And i suggested to my sis that i should go JLN Alor (streets away) and find myself a part-time gf so as to answer the question :) Oh, this is the first time i wore a dress to my cousin;s wedding dinner. For the previous cousins, i only wear t-shirt or polo-t :P

My sis’s bf was driving us there and we reached the venue at abt 6.56pm. The carpark area was behind the restaurant area with some dilapidated buildings .Need to pay the car-park staff rm 10 then get a coupon to be stamped by the restaurant and get a refund of rm 7 :p WHy dun they just collect rm 3? Weird~

Times sq is just nearby and can be seen from the carpark area.

The alley leading to the main entrance or front of the restaurant. Nostalgic feel~

My Mum dressing up like those ladies in the olden days with the old building as background. Gona print this photo and send to my dad :P

There were 2 wedding dinner for that nite and my cousin;s one was on the first floor.

Taken this photo of the restaurant logo on my way up the staircase…

Oh no, the host had no arrived yet and somemore it;s filled with old people. Looked bit like those old people association dinner to me :P Need more hot galz around like those in pps bash :P Anyway were too punctual as the stated time was 7pm for the dinner to start. Darn malaysian timing!

Table setting for the host was so much so better than that for the rest of the tables :p

I found a table that provided the best view of the stage area affter choosing between the 5 tables with the number 9. Since i was early and there;s nothing to do, i kept drinking tea and frequented the toilet for quite a number of times…

Suddenly out of nowhere 2 galz appeared but they were not angelic. Ok, i was looking blankly at them all the time and discussing bout them with my sis until they noticed it :P They are from the bride’s side and i din make an attempt to tok to them. Coz i;m not good at socializing with people :P Conclusion: Back alwayz look better. I knoe i;m ugly but i still can comment rite? haha hope i won;t get killed or bashed by frenz of these 2 galz who;s reading my blog now….

MEnu for the wedding dinner.

First dish: 四式热上荤. This is one of the best dish of the night. More to come~

Dish 2: 蟹皇烩鱼翅. Thou i;m not really a sharkfin soup fan but this one tasted very rich and it impressed me :P I still think sharfin give those texture like rubber and nothing special :P Haha, when the buying stop, the killing can too! Remember this slogan? I dun think most of the chinese will care bout this…

Closer look at my bowl of soup :P There;s even the crab roe on top, yummy!

Dish 3: 港式沙皮猪. I used to have this dish during my last trip to Thailand years ago and this kinda reminded me of the place where i first had this. The crispy pork skin was nice when eaten with mantou, onion and sweet sauce!

Dish 4: 清蒸斗底鲳. Pretty amazed with the size of the promfet coz normally i have those smaller size 1…

Dish 5: 西式鲜草虾. Very nice to go with the alcohol…

Dish 6: 五福 齐贺喜. A very nice dish with mussels and huge shitake mushrooms.

The huge shitake mushroom (got some bigger one) on my plate.

Dish 7: 港式糯米饭. Alwayz have this at all the wedding dinner. MAybe this sticky glutinous rice symbolized the way on how the couple will be sticked together for the rest of their life.

Dish 8: 美点映双辉. I like both the mantou and red-bean paste dessert. Not very sweet and just right! I ate 4 or 5 of the mantou if i;m not mistaken coz bit drunk at that time…

Dish 9: 百年庆好合. It tasted just like those 六味汤 but this one got 莲子…

And another must have at all the wedding dinner, MArtell! YEah, was helping myself with the endless supply of alcohol. My other cousin saw me at the beverage area mixing the martell with sprite and jokingly said “人家出酒, 你出命” or kinda like saying people supply alcohol and u drink to ur death. Previously been requesting alcohol from the same waitress for couple of time, feeling bit embarassed and so i helped myself out to reduce their workload. Such a considerate person rite?

The bridgegroom (my cousin) and his bride. When i requested him to pose for me with his wife, he seemed it blur bout my identity. This is becoz we seldom get together and only few years back i met him for the first time :P

Another shot of them.

It;s time to open the champagne, eerrr looks bit like redwine to me….

Noticed the bride was standing far behind the bridegroom with her ears covered :P Bit weird coz the cork just fell off with no popping sound. Can this confirm that it;s not a champagne? Still wondering~

The lovely couple pouring the champagne.

Preparing to toast everyone.

Yumseng~

The couple with the bridegroom;’s family members on the right.

After the toasting ceremony onstage, the couple had to take the hassle of toast from table to table and shout Yummmmmmmseeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg~

Was at the same table with my cousins. For the previous wedding dinner, we oso shared the same table :)

My uncle and his family :) This photo looks very warm!

Another cousin of mine with her bf.

My uncle and his family (din capture all the members in this photo).

Me (red like lobster) with my mum (oso red like lobster!) and sis.

First time taking photo together with my cousin, KIm.

My mum and my aunt.

An ending photo of me in the toilet. I think i have scared a guy pissing at the side. HE was pissing and he looked back when he heard the sound of the shutter :P Haha, hope i won;t be mistaken as a pervert who stalked at guy pissing~ Oh yah, karaoke session was bit vibrant that nite and i must be drunk coz i kept hearing a lady singing “Shui diao wo” or “who fuck me” for couple of times… At the end of the dinner, there;s this fella hiding behind the stage and added the word “Ji bai” or “Pussy” to the hokkien lyric. This time i wasn;t drunk and my mum oso heard that :P She was pretty shocked and said the fella was pretty rude and kinda insulting the ladies. So i suggested shouting “lan jiao” or “dick” back at him but my mum said dun crazy. I must be pretty high ;)

The whole dinner ended at around 11pm and the first thing i did when reached home was to lie down on bed resting. WHile walking, i was wobbling abit and luckily din fall to the drain~ Luckily i still managed to wake up and catch the replay of “PEarl of the Palace” drama…

The company believes similar success will happen in other countries. ” quoted straight from 1901 website.

Pretty cool wall and i love the setting of the shop. But it;s bit crampy~

Grab that bite as alwayz. 1901 has alwayz been Anson’s favourite and there;s this time with him and Pei sung where we competed inside the cinema to see who can finish our hotdog bun the fastest…

Minnesota’s twin tasted very good. I got the beef hotdog and there;s a chicken hotdog at the side. So this kinda xplain the twin…

New York Chicken *edited* as ordered by Zhiyong.

Zhiyong with his iced peach tea. I was standing all the while coz there;s only two stools~
